This is a picture of Jurachhari Upazila Complex in Rangamati. Another abandoned tin shed house next to this three-room house is being used as an emergency department. Its condition is also pitiful. A maximum of four people can receive treatment in a pile on the floor. In such a situation, residents are forced to travel three hours by boat from the upazila to Rangamati General Hospital for treatment.

After investigation, it was learned that the hospital has been digging like this since 2023. In August of that year, the old 10-bed health complex building was demolished. After that, construction work on a new four-story building began. The cost of building this new 50-bed building was estimated at 13.49 crore taka. The contractor company UT Mong was given the responsibility of the work. The construction work was supervised by a person named Md. Solimuullah. He is the treasurer of Rangamati District Awami League. He has not been seen in the area since August 5. Since then, the construction work of the building has also been stopped.

Upazila administration sources said that the work of this building construction project is not even 50 percent complete. The project period ended in June last year. So far, Md. Solimuullah has raised Tk 4.5 crore for the construction.

Recently, it was seen on the spot that creepers have grown around the building under construction. Rods, stones, shuttering wood are lying in many places. A worker is guarding these materials for fear of theft. When asked, the person named Md. Sagar said, “I heard that the work period has ended, so the work has stopped. Now the contractor is in hiding. I am guarding the materials lying in the building.”
